We first learned about Eloise, who was 17 weeks at the time, back in June. Eloise’s human mom had contacted us after having bred her female bull terrier without having an understanding of breeding in a truly responsible way. Amongst other things, she didn’t know that temperament of the dogs that she bred should be considered and her bull terrier is not okay with other dogs. She ended up having a singleton, Eloise. After about a month, the mom started to attack Eloise and her human mom realized she was in over her head and wanted Eloise to have the chance at a good life. The woman fully comprehended that she made a huge mistake in trying to breed and only wanted to make it right by Eloise so she contacted us. We decided to send her to a foster home to start so we could make sure that she would learn a lot of things she needed to know so that she could be a good citizen throughout her life. We were hopeful that the combination of being with an experienced foster where she would be socialized with other dogs and her young age would outweigh the possibility that she might end up similar to her mom in regard to other dogs. Genetics won though and after initially doing well with other dogs it became clear that Eloise should be the only dog in a home. Once we started to look for her permanent home, we were contacted by a woman named Veronica. Veronica and her partner Adam had been looking for a bull terrier for quite a while. However, like us, they wouldn’t settle for just any bully because there was an available one, they needed to have a bully who was the right fit. Eloise seemed like the one and after speaking with both of them, we agreed. Eloise’s fosters, Kasi and Dustin, generously offered to drive about 9 hours to bring her all the way to Veronica and Adam. This past Wednesday, they packed up the car and headed out, getting Eloise to her new pawrents in the early evening. It was love at first sight. Eloise has been settling in and thoroughly enjoying all the attention of being the only dog in the home.
