UPDATE: Dawson will be heading to his temporary foster home on Sunday, February 25th. We will still be looking for a longer term foster or adopter so if interested, please let us know.

Immediate Foster Needed

This precious boy was picked up as a stray in North Carolina a few days ago. The vet at the shelter estimates him to be between 6 – 7 years old. He weighs 53 pounds. He has some arthritis and most likely dry eye. We will get any vetting that he needs done once he goes to a foster home. We have been told that he is extremely sweet. The shelter is very full and busy so they haven’t had time to dog test him. We have been told that he has been non-reactive when seeing other dogs and has looked at them, seemingly interested in a positive way. We don’t have any other information besides that. We need to get him out of the shelter as soon as possible. He can go to a home with another dog as long as he is kept separate for the first few weeks to allow him to decompress and let both dogs get use to the idea of each other’s presence, followed by an attempt at gradual integration to see how he does. As we said, we just aren’t currently sure how he really is with other dogs. Since we don’t know about prey drive with him, we will err on the side of caution and say no cats or smaller animals unless they are kept completely and totally separate. This boy just really needs a place to go where he can be loved on, learned about and vetted. Children 12 and older since we are unsure of any of his history. If you live within 4 – 6 hours of New Bern, NC and can take him in, please either message our main inbox or Lisa Taubman Blount (https://www.facebook.com/lisa.taubman ) directly.
