If you love a heartwarming fairy tale ending, you will love this story about rescue girl Roxy. Roxy was found as a 23 pound starved stray, every rib was visible and pronounced. Her finder Adia did everything she could to see if someone was missing Roxy and no one ever came forward. Adia brought her home, got her vet care and worked on helping Roxy gain weight and build trust. Although Adia absolutely fell in love with little Roxy, it was not meant to be as Roxy exhibited some natural prey drive and Adia already had a cat and a bunny. Adia patiently waited for us to find the right family. She understood and appreciated that just because there was an open home, it didn’t mean we would just put Roxy there, it had to be the right home. The proverbial phase of “patience is a virtue” comes to mind here. Alas, the waiting paid off. A woman named Claudia reached out to our placement coordinator and after reading just the second message from her, we knew Roxy’s home was found. Claudia had been a well known, highly regarded breeder of a different breed for years. She had been into conformation, obedience and several other area’s with the dogs where training them and working with them often is vital. Claudia’s dream dog her whole life though was not the one she bred for all those years but rather a bull terrier. As a retirement present to herself, she got her first bull terrier, Miley, almost 15 years ago. Sadly, Miley passed a few months back. Even though Claudia wasn’t quite at the point of actively looking for another bull terrier, something about the post about Roxy needing a home compelled her to find out more. The more we spoke, the more it became obvious that there could not be a better home and family for Roxy. Roxy will be the only pet in the home and will be with her humans virtually all of the time. She will be loved and taken care of as the little princess she was meant to be. She will spend the spring and summer months on a beautiful 40 acre hobby farm and the fall and winter months in the family home on a tropical island. She will get the whole back row of the Cessna plane every time they fly to and from the island. We attempted to turn things into a package deal so that we too could be adopted by Claudia and Brian but hit a standstill about us fitting in the plane as well. Since our main priority is the bull terriers under our care, we agreed to give up our newfound dream and only focus on Roxy at that point. This past Saturday, Claudia and Brian picked up Roxy. She has since been spending quality time with her new pawrents and exploring the farm.

Below is a picture from Saturday of Adia, Claudia and Roxy.
