In November, a friend of ours who runs a rescue for a different breed, reached out to us about a bull terrier at the Animal Welfare League (AWL) in Illinois. He then put us in touch with the woman in charge at AWL, who also happens to be a very experienced bull terrier mom. We learned that a gorgeous female bull terrier had been picked up as a stray and brought to their intake facility. The woman would have brought the bully home to join her pack but knew she was at her maximum capacity of bull terriers that can be appropriately handled without losing her mind! We wanted to get right to work on finding this bully a home but were told that we had to fill out and submit paperwork to become rescue partners with the AWL. We spent the majority of a day completing the forms and were told that it takes about a month to be approved. So we waited and waited for what seemed like a very long month and then one random day, we received the email letting us know we were an approved partner. Based on the information we had been provided about the bully, we felt we knew just the right people for her, a couple named Lorrie and Craig. They have had the pleasure of having 3 bull terriers be part of their family over the years. They recently retired and have all the time in the world for a bull terrier. This morning Lorrie and Craig drove several hours to meet and bring home their girl. She will partake in camping trips, spend time on their pontoon on a lake and enjoy nice long walks. They are even planning on trying barn hunt with her. This beautiful girl is now the center of their world and will the live the life she deserves.
