As a rescue, we hear lots of reasons why someone wants or needs to surrender a bull terrier. We reserve judgement as much as humanly possible regardless of the reason behind the surrender. In truth, it can be hard to maintain a level of professionalism when listening to some people but we always do. Then there are times when it is very evident that the person is trying to do everything he/she can to ensure that his/her bull terrier has the life he/she deserves. Such is the case with Gambit and his owner. Gambit’s owner reached out to us in July. She is a 19 year old girl who has had him for a few years. She currently lives in her family home with a lot of people. She has a job at a doggie daycare and works hard. She is moving and realized that as a 19 year old with limited income and common breed restrictions where she resides, it would be a massive struggle to find a safe place to live and provide Gambit all that he needs. Her love for Gambit is unquestionable. She has patiently waited for the right home to come along for Gambit, putting her move off for as long as necessary to make sure it was the right home. When talking with his owner, we discussed what we thought would be an ideal home for him. With that narrowed down, we started looking. We had a huge amount of interest as Gambit is a very suave cool looking bull terrier. We won’t just settle though on a home because there is one, it has to be the right home. Eventually, what we feel is the right home, came along. As soon as we starting speaking with Brenda and Ross, we felt we found his home. The added bonus to this family is that Gambit’s owner had mentioned how much Gambit loves running alongside her when she is skateboarding. When talking with Brenda, she mentioned that although her 3 adult sons don’t live at home, they do visit often and all 3 are skateboarders, one was even a professional skateboarder for some time. Gambit set off for the next chapter of his life today. Once he decompresses, he will slowly start to be integrated with Willow, his new 8 year old bull terrier sister. We are all looking forward to seeing Gambit as he becomes part of his new family.

Below is a video of Gambit meeting his new mom Brenda today during his hand off for the last leg of his transport.

Special thanks to Shannon Marie for meeting and evaluating Gambit, Kris Erdman for taking the time to meet Brenda and Ross to make sure they would provide a safe loving home for him, Chris Werner for helping with his transport and Brenda and Ross for bringing Gambit home.
