Jerzy Still Needs a Family of her Own
We are still looking for a home for Jerzy
We are truly surprised that the right family hasn’t been found yet for Jerzy. We thought it would be a good idea to have Jerzy’s foster mom write about her so everyone could learn about her straight from the woman who has spent so much time getting to know this adorable girl over the last few months.
Hi! Meet Jerzy! Jerz is a 20 month old deaf female. In May, I was contacted to do an evaluation on her and her sister. Jerzy had recently had a litter and hadn’t had any medical attention along with some visible skin issues. I immediately contacted Blue Ridge and said I would foster Jerzy so she could get the medical attention she needed and we could get a proper evaluation on her away from her litter mate.
I have never owned or fostered a deaf dog but over the past 2 months, I have had the distinct pleasure of seeing this little girl blossom and learning just as much as she has. Now that her skin is healed and has been fully vetted, most of her medical issues have resolved. She has developed a small hernia and is set to see her favorite vet this week to see if that will require surgery. I could write a book about this sweet girl but here are all the things I have learned about Jerzy.
Jerzy loves to go on walks! Walking directly by your side, she looks up frequently to make sure you are having just as good of a time as she is. She will prance along, smell flowers and likely, meet a new friend or two along the way.
Jerzy loves affection but doesn’t like to be hot so Jerzy can be caught just laying in the same room watching you as you take care of things around the house. If she isn’t laying on the floor where she has the best vantage point to see you, she can be found binge watching Gray’s Anatomy as TV is one of her favorite past times.
Jerzy is dog friendly and is learning more about proper interaction with other dogs and reading their body language. She is still a young bull terrier so a quick walk before play with another dog her size or larger seems to work really well. Currently, she is living with a 4 year old female bull terrier with a low to medium energy level.
Don’t let her deafness fool you. Jerz communicates very well and I have developed a unique bond with her unlike any other. Jerz loves a routine and lives her best life with structure. She will look to you more to read your body language and has learned some sign language, she knows when I’m upset with her or when I am proud of her or when I am happy, or sad. She is eager to learn and please her human so you will know by her booty wiggles, or her endearing floppy ears that change depending on what’s going through her head just what she is feeling.
Jerz has stolen the hearts of everyone she has met and has such a gentle, loving, happy soul. It pains us to see her go but we just know she will be the pawfect addition and a blessing to her lucky furever home.
No cats or smaller animals. Kids 12 and older. If you think you may be the pawfect home for this amazing girl and live within 6 hours of North Arlington, NJ, please either message Blue Ridge Bull Terrier Club Rescue or Lisa Taubman Blount directly.
You can see more of Jerzy on her page, Jerzy Girl and reach out with any questions you may have if you want to more know!
