Late Wednesday afternoon we received a hotline call about a bull terrier named Jasmine. Jasmine’s owner had asked an acquaintance if he knew a place to dump stuff. The acquaintance assumed he meant trash, however, it turned out that he meant a bull terrier, a living, breathing, sweet 3 year old bull terrier. The acquaintance’s roommate got wind of the situation and convinced the owner to just hand Jasmine over to her. However, the roommate’s were aware that Jasmine is not okay with cats and there is a cat in their home. Due to that factor, Jasmine was being kept in a heated garage, not an ideal situation but certainly better than the alternative of her being dumped. There were some other behind the scenes issues going on that we can’t disclose but felt it necessary to move Jasmine as soon as we possibly could. Since we only knew tidbits of information about Jasmine, we wanted to get her into a foster home so we could have a better understanding of her. Long time foster Paula had reached out earlier in the day about possibly fostering another bully we had posted. We already had something in the works for that bully but felt Paula would be an ideal foster for Jasmine. Not only will Paula provide a great evaluation on Jasmine but she will also give her lots of love and care, something Jasmine is in need of. Jasmine came in with at least one of her nails completely embedded into her paw pad. Her paw is swollen and looks to be infected. She has been trying to not put too much weight down on that foot. We tried to get her into a vet before moving her but there weren’t any appointments available. Not to worry through, her foster mom, Paula, already has her scheduled to see the vet tomorrow. We were so thrilled that we had a foster home lined up so quickly but then ran into some transportation issues getting her there. Once we realized that we couldn’t find anyone to fill the middle leg, we looked at the map again and changed the breakdown of the route and were able to make it work with the help of some very kind individuals, some of whom changed their plans to make sure it could happen. This morning, volunteer Emily went and picked up Jasmine at 7:45 AM to get the day started and drove to meet up with Deanna and Artie Wilzman. They then drove 2 1/2 hours to meet up with Paula, who had an over 2 hour drive. All this to help make sure Jasmine was safe and sound and given a chance at the good life she deserves.
Special thanks to the individuals involved in making sure Jasmine was not thrown out like trash and to Emily, Artie, Deanne and Paula for taking time out of their day to transport Jasmine and to Paula for also immediately being on board to foster Jasmine.
