It’s interesting how things play out sometimes in rescue. The last several months have been a struggle for most rescues and shelters to find homes for dogs. We never really know if we will be able to find a home for a bully that we learn about, regardless of how hard we try. Late Thursday afternoon we were contacted by a shelter about a bull terrier, now to be known as Bruno, who was picked up as a stray in Michigan. The dog was microchipped so the owner was contacted yet did not come get him. We put a post up looking for someone to go meet and evaluate him (all the while wondering if we would be able to find a spot for him if it went well). Shortly after making that post, we received an excited message from an already approved applicant named Noel who happened to grow up in the town where the shelter is. We spoke with Noel more at length early Friday morning and she then asked if things went okay with the evaluation if her and her husband Zak could bring him home to foster! Yesterday, Noel and Zak drove about 3 hours from Indiana to the shelter in Michigan to see Bruno. Bruno was a complete sweetheart during the visit so the decision was made for him to go home with Noel and Zak. He has been settling in nicely and making himself right at home. We could not have asked for things to line up any better than they did. Situations like this one cement the fact that we have so many wonderful human beings with huge hearts in our bull terrier community, something we are eternally grateful for.
