Lyla is still in need of a home AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Meet Lyla

Lyla is an almost 2 year old female bull terrier in need of a new home. She originally came from Tennessee, where an all breed rescue adopted her out to someone who never had a bull terrier before, was overwhelmed with her energy and ended up crating her the majority of the day/night. That person’s mother, who was involved with dog rescue for years, then took Lyla to her house because she was not okay with how things were playing out at her son’s home. However, there are 4 cats and 3 other dogs in the home and this nice woman has a bad back and knows that Lyla needs a more suitable home, a home where she gets more exercise, has structure and routine, mental and physical stimulation and someone familiar with the breed. Lyla is absolutely not okay with the cats in the home. She does well with one very submissive dog but has had some issues with the other dogs as her energy is a bit much for them. As happens sometimes with bull terriers, she does appear to get a little jealous of other dogs in the home if they are getting attention and seems to want to control what the other animals are doing. Outside of the home, if she sees another dog, she play bows and wants to interact positively. We would just prefer to avoid any possible issues in the home and place her where there are no other animals in the home. She will need some help with her leash manners as well. She lets you know when she has to go out to potty by going to the door and then barking if you don’t notice her at the door. She can get mouthy/nippy when she is excited. She is a loving girl who has already been through too many homes in her life and deserves some stability and a family who understands her. She will only go to a home where there is previous bull terrier experience or where there is very good understanding of dog behaviors and training so that she can’t push boundaries. We don’t have a current weight on her but her current owner thinks she is about 50 lbs. Kids 12 and older. No cats, no other animals.
