Petey was found roaming around in Michigan by a nice gentleman last week. Petey’s owner was found but told his finder that he did not want Petey. Apparently the owner got an unaltered male dog about a year ago and Petey didn’t like that dog and would go at him so he was always kept either inside or outside in a kennel. He would get out occasionally and then just show back up. The last time this happened, Petey came back with half of his tail missing. Petey’s finder can only keep him a short while longer. Since we do not have much first hand information about Petey, we are looking for a foster for him. We need a foster who is capable of fully evaluating him and working with him so we can learn more about him. Based on the limited information we have, it appears that he is not okay with other animals (and most likely aggressive towards them). We know for fact he has prey drive and has gotten smaller animals. He has been very sweet with his finder. We had a trainer go evaluate Petey and he let her touch him all over, was very food motivated and walked decently on a leash for never really having been walked before. We will only be able to take Petey in to the rescue if we have a qualified person to foster and evaluate him. We are not looking for a foster home where he can stay for a week or two with someone who doesn’t have an understanding of bull terrier behaviors and dog behaviors in general, who just wants to “save” Petey. We need someone who can truly evaluate him and work with him and who is committed to having him for some time to do this. Kids 16 and older. If you live within 6 hours of Fennville, MI and believe you have the capabilities to bring Petey into your home and evaluate him, please either message our main inbox or Lisa Taubman Blount directly.
