UPDATE (05/30/23): We are very happy to share that a former adopter of ours reached out and will bring Kaiser home on Friday. Also, for those of you who expressed interest and who have been talking with us, we will be glad to talk about the possibility of finding a bully who is the right fit for you and will be back in touch in the near future. Further updates to follow.
Kaiser needs a foster home
Kaiser is a 3 year old male bull terrier who was picked up as a stray and so far, has not been claimed by his owner. If he is not picked up by his family when his stray hold ends a week from today, Friday, June 2nd, 2023, we will have to get him out of the shelter pretty quickly after that as they are full. Kasier was very happy to just jump into the woman’s vehicle who found him as if he had known her forever. He has been very friendly thus far. He is a big boy, weighing about 67 pounds and he is a puller on the leash so whoever he goes too needs to be able to handle a young, energetic bull terrier of his size. He also likes to lean in on you with all his weight! The shelter can’t do any kind of dog test until after his stray hold is up but we have to pull him after the stray hold is up so we are not sure how he will be with another dog. While being evaluated outdoors today by a friend of the rescue, while outside they saw other dogs through the fence and he seemed interested to see what was going on, he didn’t show any aggression. When they went to walk back inside, they passed by several dogs through a fence and he didn’t react. We would be willing to send him to a home with a female dog who is close in Kaiser’s size or bigger but slow integration would have to take place and you’d have to be willing to keep them separate if he ended up not being okay with the dog so that we could continue to learn more about him while in his foster home. Ideally, there would be a fenced in back yard because he is so strong but if you know how to work with a bull terrier and get them to stop pulling on walks, a fence isn’t a dealbreaker. He does have a wound on his tail and a few other things going on that we would want to have addressed by the vet and we would cover those costs. He keeps his kennel clean and waits until taken outside to go potty. The general consensus is that he is a big love of a bull terrier. Since we have no background information on Kaiser, kid 12 and older. No cats or smaller animals. If you live within 6 hours of Elkhart, IN and are interested in fostering Kaiser, please either message our main inbox or Lisa Taubman Blount directly.
