Meet Richie

Towards the end of December, Richie showed up in front of a family business in Illinois. The family took him in and were unable to locate his owner’s, which is when we stepped in. Richie went to a foster home and is now ready for his permanent home.

He is estimated to be approximately 5 years old, about 55 lbs, neutered and up to date on vaccines. Richie’s foster mom shared a little about Richie with us. She says he is needy but in a great way, he always wants to be with you and involved. He knows how to sit, shake and give high five, he is very smart . As a typical Bully he knows when it’s time to eat and barks at you until he gets his food. He loves to go for walks and would rather walk than be out in the backyard. He is good with other dogs when he goes on his walks. He has been around children and has been very gentle with them, so he could go to a home with kids 8 and older as long as they have been taught how to properly interact with dogs. He is crate trained and knock on wood he is good with his bedding. He loves to chew on nylabones and will do anything for a treat.

Richie should be an only dog in his new home, he has a few scars that may have come from a tussle with another at one time so we would rather err on the side of caution. He is good with his baths but hates his nails being done. Unfortunately Richie came to us with an obstruction of a corn cob and required surgery immediately which he has fully recovered from. The vet said he has had obstruction surgery before by the scarring he saw so his new family will have to really make sure to bully proof the trash cans in the home and make sure he doesn’t get into something again.

He is currently located in Barrington Hills, IL. If you live within a reasonable distance and can offer Richie a loving home, please either message our main inbox or Lisa Taubman Blount directly.
